The Mermaid - sketch

Inspired by the opening and ending sequence of Jan Siegel's Prospero's Children.  (Great book!) Thinking of doing an oil painting of this scene, the mermaid decorating Raf's corpse.

I haven't painted in oil in four years, and my last painting was also mermaid theemed.  Welp, I never pretended I didn't like mermaids :p

Lady Fire

Quick illustration of the monster Lady Fire from Kristin Cashore's Fire. I loved the books series and  although Fire was probably my least favorite of her series, this character stuck in my head.  I loved the heroic lonely monster woman who is determined to be the last of her species, and she is a musician of all things. Anyway, fun sketch, and color holding that hair was less of a pain then I thought it would be!

Jirel Meets Magic, inks

Some of you may recall that I penciled an exert of Jirel Meets Magic by Catherine L. Moore.  Jirel Meets Magic is a Sword and Sorcery story from the 1930s that I am quite fond of, it is your standard high fantasy S&S story, but casted with mainly female characters, which gives it points in my book.  The first phase of my adaption can be seen here http://maggiesiegelberele.blogspot.com/2011/08/jirel-meets-magic-pencils.html

And here are the inks I've been working on! Enjoy em :) I'm still trying to figure out if I should color them and if so, how/ what medium.  Any insight in that department would be greatly appreciated!

Rooftop Fight

The Department of Education canceled school buses this week due to the gas shortage, so I haven't been working much.  On the plus side, I did this fun illustration! Hope y'all like it.

Scout Watercolor

A quick watercolor based on other Amtgard pictures.  This one is based off of a pic of one of our Assassins, Wynter, in the Scout competition.

Harry Potter page

I was sick through most of the hurricane, but while I had energy and no freelance to work on, Nathaniel told me to do a Harry Potter comic, and I couldn't get the idea out of my head, so whala!

A small exert of page 330-1 of the Order of the Phoenix.  It was a lot of fun to do...except for the library books.  The library books were kind of awful :p
